same principles at work with playing cards corporate business cards only the more personal Ottowa Business cartridge should discard trips then turned into sure is card tricks I have in this case it a looka these are printed with a special security because I don't always want people have my address okay but if I do want you to have my address all I have to do is kinda run up to my hand like this you when I type like this approach itself why hand out a printed business cards I I think dry here and this rainfall it because it's like it's its its it doesn't overstay its welcome its its by the Thai people realize magic happen it's too late for them to figure anything out and a it can work with any business card blank on one side from and all you have to do is kind half your cart of so you have a savage in their face a all sides passing in up half down them over the top half squared up kinda over come over the top half seems like all your cards have been one sure take any car now the upper half and this is what we call this to the hand Flory and what it is if it's on the tips in the fingers it stays flat to the floor okay and you push with your thumb and if you put it on your Palm House for a turnover now your thumb pushes you can act like you're typing right and again is it a little can animation and there's this guy is a great time as always set up and ready to go the other nice thing to do is you get the same effect on you could just hands on the business card that little bit of business makes it memorable specially to look for a job for something and just and little moment as to make it a little memorable in israel processing your ready to chat more it's actually a promise that it's a it's a fertile topic is he says here's another way to do the same basic thing Chur each other cars all around like this okay these are definitely blank and yes you just cut meanwhile fun guide now this works automatically with business cards and have this raising p.m. boss tank English English Print Place specializes in high quality, quick turn, one hundred percent offset postcard printing. How It's Printed: Postcards | Online Printing byPrintPlace.com !!! From the moment your order is sent to press, a team of qualified printing experts begin producing your order. First, our art technicians review your job for several aspects, such as size, embedded fonts, resolution and bleeds. cards printed Once your artwork passes this review, your job is passed onto pre-press. The pre-press technician's job is to assemble orders from maximum printing efficiency. Yours as well as multiple costumers jobs are grouped together from property such as paper stock, size, quantity, and processing options. Several costumers orders are placed into a single group for greatest efficiency. Once assembled, jobs are sent to plating. Here, the plate maker sends each job to a thermal infrared imaging machine. Aluminum plates, containing an infrared sensitive emulsion, load into the plate setter, where it wraps around the imaging drum. The drum at a dizzying
rpm's as an infrared laser exposes an image onto the plate. From there, the now exposed aluminum plate moves to the processor. A four-step treatment is applied: developer chemical, water, buffing, and gumming for further scratch protection. A plate for each color in the CMYK profile are printed for transfer to the press. PrintPlace utilizes three Komori offset printing presses for all of our printing. Maxed out, the Komori press can print a stunning sheets per hour. The Pressman takes the aluminum plates, and hangs them on ink units of each corresponding color. Blank sheets are fed from the back of the machine series of conveyers and rollers rapidly shoot each sheet under cyan, magenta, yellow, and black ink units. The rollers evenly distribute ink to the plates which offsets the ink to a blanket roller, that in turn, applies ink to the paper. Coated sheets are then fed through our aqueous coating unit and run across heating elements for drying. Every few hundred sheets, the pressman pulls a sheet for analysis. He scans a color bar along the bottom edge for color accuracy. Visual inspection is also needed to check for highest quality. After printing, the sheets move to the cutter. A large industrial cutting machine slices up to sheets. Each job is then separated for transfer to their particular finishing processes. Once cut, your postcards go to mailing. Before shipping, the specified addresses are printed onto each card using an ink jetting machine. The worker loads your postcards. Once running, a conveyer pulls each card rapidly under two high-speed print heads. A heating coil then dries the printed addresses. The result, a high quality, quick-turn brochure ready for mailing to your customer's door. Log on to PrintPlace.com today to get your project started! Or call us at 877-405-3949.

what's up guys right here carried out graphics attention-getter print booklet with an Indesit creating a booklet is a nice way to showcase work whether that be How to Print to a Booklet in InDesign (CC) !!! presenting your work clients as I did hear occurred a very simple logo folio for your gf backs are showcasing know though is that they created us for where you could be student putting a project he knows doing this can be another way to protect information to people and techno just knowing how to do this can be very helpful I whatever career and with that the graphic design cheap printing shop a business I or your teacher you know doing this for students is another way to showcase notes now while may be tiring consuming I love it it's just a nice way or another idea to present information so I was going to show you guys how to print the book will not be showing you guys how you designed it are but I you see here to serve a simple title page on with the folios on each page as you can see here with their logo as with the title and subtitle on each page and that you know it's nothing too crazy and boundaries Commission yes I printed it time what about doing that and I'll yeah so let's jump in InDesign and let's get to work before jumping in as I only heard you got to leave like on a video every ninety subscribe to my channel :p should acquit the annotation on-screen ever see more videos from me just like this also be sure to check out designs games dot com and use promo code symmetry to get 10 percent off your next purchase on but like I said in in da nang to be shown you how to print booklet like I have here competent major thing you wanna have open when working with any color booklet or print a republic within InDesign
pages tab opens as you see here this is what it looks like when it's open on and this is our page tab all open as you see it has all our pages and master page six entra on but if that's not open on you wanna do is go here to Windows pages we could command F or control at on Windows now major thing 1 keep in mind when printing or creating a booklet is that you always wanna print in multiples more on because that's going to create front/back and middle cover pages on that's going to create your phone book so if you're a pretty clear say three or six pages its economic assets and they will be able to create a book on certain that's always something on it Cherie I keep in mind on now in my case I didn't fill up all my pages with content so if I had that problem all I did is as I had it like peaches so I have %uh on by Peter page which is my half title page and then page and also playing just the film has extra space so there's no harm in adding blank pages because in most books that's normal I'm so and also arm if you're gonna have a front and back cover to your design or to your booklet you want to make sure that your booklet are your front page and your Backpage are all alone you don't want them to have a page next fix that's going to misinterpret so your front page is going to be our senior page your back cover is going to be paying page your last page so that's another thing you definitely want to keep in mind so when that Prince its gonna pre on one sheet of paper so when you go to folded it's going to be one uniform I cover so once you are ready to print all you want to do Scott here too file and then print booklet now I'm not going to show you guys how to print it I a printed this at my school because art to print issue wanna have a a printer that can print double-sided now my printer at home it's just a normal home printer arm so does not print double-sided so you know most if you go to high school middle school or any job I generally has an industrial printer which can print double-sided for you so I'm if you don't have one at home I you could if we find a place you can also go to places like Office Max or your local llame are now I I don't really know I'm trying to pick a place in UK that you can go to that you can print that I really don't know I guess they in my house stables in the UK is not too sure but here in America anger staples and OfficeMax and stuff like that you can pay a small fee for them to print here at this book for you arm but once you are ready to print you want to make sure that the booklet type offered this book that we're creating is to up saddle stitch on there you can muster out the settings but generally if your Christmas publicly up booklet like I should do you want to make sure it's a to up saddle stitch wanna make sure the pages there at all and you wanna make sure that the margins are automatically just if it marks and bleeds if you have they done check your gonna get some weird stock and down if you do have margins if not be relied on to worry about that another thing I wanna make sure you have checked off is print by our printer spreads so I see we have blank pages in our documents and we need and want to see you wanna make sure that it shipped off that's also important and we go get a preview of Units si what how it's gonna print so if you go through here SEP and year together put two and three so are you see you're like oh that's not in order well that's actually the way it's going to print and that's the way we wanted to print on its gonna be a printing like so so as you see here like I said before our cover it back cover pages are pretty on all one sheet of paper and that's what we want so if you don't hear print settings on you want to make sure that you had this right printer selected to begin with so I'm gonna be using a Canon tired a TV which is my school printer I'm actually not connected to that right now is currently on at home are but doesn't matter for for the sake of the story or are you sure you guys on you also want to make sure down here and under option you wanna make sure print by page is subject of mica said we needed by pages so we needed to be printed otherwise it's gonna go is going to bypass the blank pages and go to the next one its gonna mess up your whole book on x-e now only be I was printing on I believe five by seven or a but if I i think is inches by I'm not too sure om so either way on putting on tablets you to people which is by
on so arm if I go back here to previewed to cancel as you can see here I had this is the tabloid sheet a paper the white space and then this is my content the trees along doing that because I'm bringing it with marks it bleeds which gives me I'm occurs on the cut-out each individual page so I have a nice cream book as I should you before to go back to print settings and go back to set up and you want to make sure that your orientation is on landscape exhibits on arm I want to cause I can't remember the name of it all seconds are as you see here it's gonna start cutting off the edges of your book depending on size now if you have a small book yet this might work but generally you want to keep your book in our landscape mode and out then we wanted and him are complete and check all printers marks as you see here showed you before it's given us all the printers mark registrations color grade and bleed marks is giving us all that just so we know what we're going to cut for cutting online and it's going to be Street couldn't cut on is not necessary that you have all the marks and weeds on it but it's just me on if you wanna have a cock good craftsmanship and stuff like that om after that you wanna go down here too printer now this is an open up the printer settings on now most printers I I have a whole bunch a different settings on now my computer has something called fiery features now that's going to be enabled us to print double-sided which is important when putting a book like we did are now this was actually automatically installed on the Nike Peter the first time I connected to this are but generally you sometimes had to pre-install on these features so are you know like I said this is this all of our you don't but printer you have so if you are having troubles you might want to contact your ministry give are people who run the printer time maybe they can help you out and figure out what the situation might be it but what we want to use we want to attack your layout it fiery features are one sad that's going to give us this dialog box and it's going to give us printing options down here you wanna generally you'll say of but we actually want to be on short edge binding arm for the sake of this book it's going to be are creating a shortage serve along its so if you have long hair did collect print are all are quickly we don't want that so words were never shortage binding I'll hit print and you know generally you're gonna be doing a lot aspirin so if you its don't go through all the settings every time all we have to do is go down here to say preset and we're gonna call this up pretty quickly said booklet print version das there for us to every time are we go to print booklet it's just there for us ready to go is that going through all these options so once you have everything all set up just one hit OK and it's going to give you also want to check the preview box to make sure that everything is okay so everything right now is aligned everything spreading the way we wanted to be forgetting no warning messages so that is a good sign if you're getting warning messages you to everyone take care those sometimes you have over said tax on certain pages it's not a major problem but you jeffrey should fix those I'm that's pretty much it bomb so when it comes to actually once it's all done it cut it printed all you have to do is for each page hot dog style in order and then are you to do is stable the arm the binding up the book it's very simple and like I said very nice way to showcase information on that's pretty much an editorial if you guys have any questions be sure to leave a comment down below we can email me asymmetry tutorials at gmail dot com and if you're ready for me on twitter: go be sure to follow me at sentry toots and out like I said before if you enjoy the video quickly like buying and if you're nice to try to my channel could be annotation on screen or see more videos just like this Airways guys hope you enjoy the video out talk to you later

card shit which is actually more than enough for me that'll be actually setting up the clients and having them whenever I need 'em as you know people have asked me for my card and reportedly happened always had a min want to move on from the other design so they sent me here today the cards and I was a quick turnaround I submitted the order Wednesday night they got it Thursday in the process is the same day ship that out and it's Tuesday now Tuesday night never see the cards so actually the opening up for the first time it'll be about a let you know what I think personally and also with you guys me think of them Kane a quick stacker excellent rush okay so here we go so as you can see here's their from the car and here is the back of the car to make it easy now the only thing is is obviously when you get printed out when you get a mock up or whatever when you can see sometimes the blue looks a little darker than what you might think and obviously there's going to be a difference from your monitor to the printing process in is usually why you wanna have been designed in CMYK which is a column below that they recommend know the blue is basically what I was looking for came out perfect in the materials great nice intake it's not that cheap one that you can literally rip with your hands in a matter of seconds but this had a nice think feel to it and obviously has the logo here has made information here it has a services here now wanted to do a double sided car because I thought it would be different but also wanted add some color to because I wanted to stand out from any other car like for the car to be one the front they also call on the back because usually people will happen face-down well having a stack the cards in there were required to stand up so I actually think they did a pretty excellent job obviously the close of just a little bit but not enough not enough to cause a complete the card beautiful I'm a very happy that the way with the way that they got the logo also happy that they did not do any car also was making very sure that I stayed within the safety lines now from an honest review I'll honestly think that God created on: actually did a pretty good job actually pretty happy with this arm I'm not overly a static but at the same time I'm very content and I think this is a great job I think it'll absolutely serve its purpose obviously there are other places out there there are more high and places your you more than willing to spend sixty two hundred dollars to print the
there's other places that you can try to get a hold of I did reach out to other companies but I wasn't so impressed with their customer service the least I can say we've got problems they were quick in the process they were very helpful I was able to get a all the more chatting and they also offer other things I am so this will definitely be my reviews and it goes down obviously my next review will be when the shirt designs commit and I'll be sure to post a youtube video that but I just wanna closes out with up got rid of that came through absolutely great video and for your design means also are designed also visit by without coffee at the sign reads if you have any questions Be sure to visit us at Facebook to contrast Press by two solutions again this is Kenny and I thank you all for watching ap us

English English I am going to show you how to build a screen printing press out of scrap wood and just a little bit of hardware. I mean this is kinda stuff you can find lying on the side of the road. How To Build A Cheap T Shirt Screen Printing Press !!! From people renovating houses. A couple pieces here are old window trim. There's a and a piece of plywood. Just add a little bit hardware that costs almost nothing and you've got a screen printing press. I'm going to show you how to build it. The first thing I am going to do is, I'm going to make the parts for the clamps that hold on to the screen. I don't know how long this is. Maybe cheap postcard printing I'm not going to use the whole thing. I'm going to rip it down to about two and a half inches wide So that's the first thing I am going to do. Okay I got my miter saw here. The first thing I am going to do is cut off this little diagonal end here so I have a flat end. There's that. And now I cut about two inch pieces of this board here.
And nothing needs to be super exact here. You can modify it with whatever you've got. I'm going to use that to measure the next part here. So there, I've got my two inch pieces for my a screen clamp. I've got my here. The is about Whish is a little longer I really need but that's okay. I wanna leave it long cuz I wanna have a little bit extra to clamp with. What I am going to do is cut a
Just like that. Okay, I've got this other piece of wood here. It's about seven and a half inches wide which is actually... I only really need about seven inches but that extra half an inch is not going to be a big deal. This needs to be about inches long as well. So what we will do is mark it at
Make it longer than I really need it. This is my nice clean end over here so I'm going to go ahead and cut off the other end right at
inches and that's right there. Again this stuff really doesn't need to be that exact. So just approximately. Just clean it up, make it a little nicer. Okay. That looks about right.
Okay now I gotta make the shirt board which I'm going to cut out about inch by inch square out of this. Not sure which side I am going to use. This side has a little bit of paint on it. This side doesn't have paint on it but it's got a few little knots in it. So I think I am going to go ahead and use this side then maybe just kind of sand down
the paint a little bit. Got some screw holes here screw holes there, but I am not that worried about the screw holes though. So I am going to go ahead most of the screws holes are on that side so I am going to go ahead and use this side so I go inches there by inches there, that minimizes most most of the screw holes. so here. Get a square here. I've got my circular saw here. I've got some pieces of wood underneath there raising this off the ground. I am going to go ahead and cut this down.
That's inches So now I am going to go ahead and cut inches this way. So now I am going to cut this. I drew a second line there. Okay now I am going to go ahead and put some little angles up here on the end. So first thing I'l do is measure that. That's
inches. So half of that would be (actually Come down each side maybe let's do two and a half inches on each side. Not exact stuff here. Two and a half inches. Draw a line from there down to here. Draw a line down from here. So I've got an angle there for the shirt to fit over. So I am just going to go ahead and cut these.
Went a little be wider than that. Again it's not that important. There's that. Just to clean the surface up a little bit I'm going to run an orbital sander over it.
Okay, just a rough to smooth down those paint marks especially. I may fill these with a little bit of putty of some sort. Okay, the next thing do is mount the shirt board onto the here. I turned the shirt board upside down, so now this is the bottom of the shirt board. The rough side. And I have the here so I have the angled part right there. I want to center it approximately. So about And about
Six and a quarter there. Six and a quarter there. That looks good that way.
and it should be pretty close up here. About And I am just going to go ahead and mark the board right there where the shirt board ends. I'm going to drill three holes into here and put the screws in through the
into the shirt board so that the surface of the shirt board where the shirt will lay is going to stay smooth. I've got some two inch screws which will go through the and into the shirt board but not through the shirt board. I've got a drill bit that's a little smaller diameter than this the screw and I am going to put three holes through here.
Okay Screw this on here.
Be careful not to screw them in so far they come out of the surface of the shirt board. Okay now we need to attach to clamp board here which is this seven and a half inch by
inch board there. There should be about a six inch space between the shirt board clamp board. So I am going to go ahead and mark that there. You want it centered approximately on there. Since it's inches long.
inches right there. Center that approximately. We're going to drill a couple holes through here for the screws. So just two right in the center here.
Lets do a couple more, what the heck.
There we go. Center that on there. And we want it straight. And we use the same two inch screws on this as well. Put these in there.
Okay, so now I have the two pieces, the boards to make the clamp with. What I am going to do is lay them flat right on top of each other. And I bought these bolts. They're inch bolts and they're about inches long and I have a washer and a wing nut. And so they will go through there. Now I have a drill this is just very slightly larger diameter then the bolt. So what I am going to do is lay these down flat and about an inch from the end here I'm gonna drill a hole straight down through both boards trying to keep it straight as possible. And it's through there. And then do the other side.
Okay, now I am going to take one of the flat pieces and just lay it side by side this other clamp board here. And I have a piece of strip hinge here. This is just what I had. You can also use like two or three smaller hinges. But I have the strip hinge, so that's what i am going to use. and I'm just basically lay it down here. First what I am going to do is just go ahead and put it connect it on one side there and put this part down so that I know it's exactly straight with this board here. Okay now with this strip hinge laid right up there I'm going to go ahead and put in some of these screws I don't need to put in all the screws just probably like every other hole or so
And that should be enough and now I'm going to go ahead and stick the clamp part here and bring it flush up against this base part and then put some of these screws in.
Okay, now this should move up nice smooth like that I take the other part of the clamp right there and make sure that the holes line up on there with the bottom. Take one of these bolts stick it up through the bottom there Put the washer there. And then the wing nut. Same thing with the other side here.
Like that. Okay, here's like one of the screens I like to use here. This is an aluminum frame screen and it's
How this works is
put the screen, slide it here and part of the problem is these little parts of these bolts haven't bitten into the the back part of the board. So I will go ahead and push this in and then clamp these down and let the back end of the bolts bite into the wood on the backside here.
Just clamp these down real tight. And those will bite in. Okay, now I can go ahead and loosen these a little bit. So I just go ahead and slide this screen into where I want it to be. And it will go down until it hits the hinge there. I don't really need to have it all that far in there And what you can do is slide a t shirt on to the shirt board and line up where you want this design hit on the t shirt, and clamp these down. it will hold it straight. And then you go ahead and lift this up like this. Okay, we're not done yet. What we're going to do is, we want to hook up something that will hold the screen up while we're not actually printing the shirt. And we actually have to physically push it down and then it will come back up. So what we are going to do is we hook like a little bit of a spring system here. So right in the middle here I'm going to drill, I have a small little hole... or drill, and I have these little eye screws. and so I have a a small drill bit. I just going to drill like a pilot hole here, in there. and then also back here, I'll drill one in.
Now with some vice grips here. Clamp these on a little tighter. Use this to go ahead and screw the the eye screw in. One there. And one here.
Okay, now this spring is just too strong to really reach between both of those screws. So what I am going to do is hook it on one side I'm going to use the...there. Get it on this one here. And then I have a zip tie. So what I am going to do is go ahead and use the zip tie and put this through here like this. And then I can tighten this. I go ahead and pull this back. Tighten this. and then adjust it to where it's going to hold the screen up to where I want it to be. And then I can just physically push it down and it'll come back up. Tighten it just a little bit more. Okay, here's the finished screen printing press. I have it mounted to a kitchen table just using a C-clamp here. You can also drill a hole in the and screw it down to a work bench, if you've got one around. I just have this hanging off the end of the the table. To use it just take it t-shirt slide it on to the shirt board. Get it all straightened up. It helps to look at the grain of the shirt. And you can make sure the the grain of the shirt is side by side, and you can feel the sides of the shirt to make sure they are even on each side. You can also spray a little bit of spray adhesive on to the shirt board so that it becomes sort of sticky and will actually hold the shirt in place when you go to print it. To go ahead and use it, put the ink on the screen drop it down. Squeegee it on. Lift it back up. Pull the shirt off. If you don't have complete coverage, one of the nice things about a screen printing press is it's going to hold the screen in the exact place where you want it. Drop it down, Squeegee it again. Lift it up and hopefully then you have a nice image on the shirt. Anyway this is...you can't build a screen printing press much cheaper than this. Its great for doing like hobby printing or you could even do a small business with this for almost like nothing to start a small business printing T-shirts You could actually even build your own frames and I may do a video on that. That's how to build a cheap screen printing press.

English English Hello everyone this is Chris from Spoon Graphics back with another video tutorial. Today I'm going to run through the process of designing a business card and talk about some of the important things to consider when designing for print. How To Create a Print Ready Business Card Design !!! It's super important that you get things like bleed, color mode and resolution right when you're creating your artwork, otherwise you might end up having your files rejected by the printer, having to start again from scratch or even worse, receiving hundreds of prints back that look nothing like your design! So hopefully this guide will cover each step and ensure your print projects go smoothly. Business cards are a common printed product that are fairly simple to design, but before you start, make sure you receive specific artwork instructions from the printer you're brochure printing costs going to use. Every company has their own preferences, so the settings I'm using in this tutorial might not match up exactly to what your printer wants, but at least you'll know what they're referring to when they say stuff like trim size and bleed size. We're going to use a mix of Illustrator and Photoshop to make the most of each application's strengths. The overall design will be composited in Illustrator, so we'll start there. Create a new document and enter the dimensions of the business card in the artboard size settings. A common business card size is 88x55mm, but again, make sure you check with your printer first on their exact product specs. If you're in the US, you'll probably find the measurements are in inches as opposed to millimeters. The print firms I've used required 3mm bleed, so enter press Tab to apply it to all sides. Bleed is basically some padding around the edge of the design which is cut off during the printing process. It ensures that you don't end up with tiny slithers of white paper along the edge of your prints if the machine isn't lined up exactly. We're designing for print, so select the CMYK color mode so we're working in Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black inks as opposed to RGB light. Then most business cards are double sided, so increase the number of artboards to The main white area of the artboard is the finished business card size, also known as the trim size. The red outline indicates the bleed area which any backgrounds will need to extend to. It's also wise to highlight a safe area within your document. This not only makes sure your important elements like a name or logo aren't too close to the trim area that they risk being chopped off, it also helps balance your design by applying some margin around the edge. The size of the safe zone is entirely up to you but enough to look neat. You can highlight this area using guides, or draw a rectangle then right click and select Make Guides. I want a black background for my card design, so I'll grab the rectangle tool and draw a shape that covers the entire bleed area, clearing out the stroke to leave just the fill colour. A black background sounds simple enough, but there's a whole plethora of different blacks in print design. If you move the colour picker to black you'll notice it's made up
in RGB, which means there's no light so it's as dark as you can get, but look over at the CMYK values and they're all over the place, totalling at to be printed when you consider the general limit is around There's a basic 100% K black, which uses just the black ink from the standard CMYK process colours. This is good for text because just using one ink out of the four CMYK colours means you'll get the sharpest possible print, but when it's applied to a large area it can look a bit washed out. Rich black is the term used for mixes of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black that result in a deeper black. A common one on 50, 40, 40, four CMYK colours you set in your software and the amount of ink printed with each plate. The trouble is, this particular colour mix uses all four plates, so it has a high risk of misregistration which can cause fuzzy text, often seen on cheap newspaper prints. A couple more common blacks are warm black and cool black, which mix Cyan or Magenta. These two recipes only use two plates so it's much safer to use with small text while still darkening the black. The difference between them, as their names suggest, is one has more of a cooler blue tone, whereas the other has a warmer browny red tone. I'm going to use blue elsewhere in my design so I'll go with cool black to complement it. Set up the colour manually by entering the relevant percentages in the CMYK values. You can now begin building your business card design by bringing in a logo. Scale it to size and align it to the safe zone guides. There's no white ink in printing, unless it's a super specialist print. Giving something a white fill in your software will translate to the other elements being knocked out to allow the paper to show through. When entering the text for your print design, A business card is held up close so you can get away with generally smaller type, but be careful if you're using elegant fonts with high contrast, there's a point where fine lines become unprintable. The slab-serif Achille font I'm using is pretty robust so it can handle One thing to keep in mind when designing for print is the paper stock forms a large part of the final design, which you don't get to see on screen. A lot of people try to add gradients and drop shadows to make their designs more interesting, but these often just muddy the final print. An area of flat colour might look boring on screen, but when its printed you'll see the texture of the paper with a matte or glossy finish. In my design I'm enclosing the main name and contact info in a white box, which needs extending up to the bleed area. The text within this area needs to be black. I could keep using cool black with 50% Cyan, but there's not really any point seeing as the text isn't a large enough area to see the difference. All it does is risk misregistration, so instead normal For the other side of my business card design I'm going to leave the background white but make use of a photo, so Photoshop comes into play here to use its strengths as an image editor. We need to recreate the business card document size in PSD format, so create a new document and change the dimensions to millimeters. Photoshop doesn't have a separate bleed setting so we need to calculate the total dimensions. likewise 55+3+3=61mm. All print work needs to be the resolution to pixels per inch, then set the color mode to CMYK. We can't see where the actual trim line is but setting the safe zone up using guides will make sure the elements are laid out nicely. A quick way to do this is to set the size of a marquee then snap the guides to it. I want to have the logo and a tagline on this side of the card so I'll paste in the logo graphic from Illustrator and type out the text with the relevant font. Usually it's advised to add all your text in Illustrator because it's made in crisp vectors rather than fuzzy pixels, but I'm going to overlay a photo, so Photoshop is the best option in this scenario. I've downloaded this space scene from Shutterstock. Pasting it into the document will automatically convert it to CMYK and reformat it to 300ppi. This is a nice high resolution stock photo so I've actually got to scale it down a lot. You don't want to try and use small images from the web because they'll only be the size of a postage stamp in print terms, unless you upscale them, which will make them look totally ugly. The effect I'm looking for can be created using a layer mask. Filling it with black hides the entire photo, then the areas I want visible can be selected and filled white. Use Photoshop any time you're working with textures and images as part of your print designs, then add text and logos in vector format over the top in Illustrator. When you're done, save the file as a JPG using the normal Save As command so it retains the resolution and colour mode. Back in Illustrator this background can be placed onto the artboard for the other side of the business card. Before exporting the final print file it's wise to outline your fonts by pressing CMD+A to Select All, then CMD+Shift+O to Create Outlines. This eliminates any chance of your font not being picked up when it's opened on the printer's computer and defaulting to something boring. Go to File > Save As and select PDF. There's some options to add printer's marks but unless your printer has specifically asked for them just leave them off. There's also a PDF setting here that might be required. This file now contains both business card sides in one print ready document. You can give the file a quick check over by opening it in Adobe Acrobat. Look for the Output Preview tool and toggle the various plates to see how the design will be printed using the 4 process colours. In my design you can see Magenta and Yellow aren't used at all on the first side and just black is used on the name area. On the other side, the photo is made up of various percentages of all four colours. If you're new to print design this video might have bombarded you with loads of information, but hopefully it was a comprehensive guide to the things you need to consider when setting up a print file. If you did find the video useful a thumbs up to help spread the word would be really appreciated and if you want to stick around for more, remember to hit that subscribe button. So thank you very much for watching and I'll catch you all later.

English English Hi thanks again for watching OneMinuteDigital.com. Today is a little bit longer tutorial today for those of you who are interested in learning how to design and save your file for a printer a business card. And I'm going to be working a little bit in Photoshop but mostly in Illustrator Create a Print Ready Business Card in Adobe Illustrator from Start to Finish !!! to show you how to prepare your card. You have a business, you need a business card - maybe you don't have a logo yet - but you can still make a really nice looking business card with just a photo and a little bit of type manipulation. So the few things that I want you to keep in mind are are here on the screen. Use a high resolution image that's
dpi or more for your printed card. And make sure it's CMYK. Outline your fonts, make sure to add bleed if it's a full bleed image, and don't use more than print shops online fonts, that's more of a design tip than printing. But these are the things that printers will look for and if you don't have the files prepared correctly they're going to ask you to redo them, resend them, or they're going to fix them the way they think they should be done. So here we go, from start to finish we're going to design a business card and get it ready for print. OK, first thing, in Adobe Illustrator go to File > New. And you have the option here for number of artboards. We can have as many as we want, we only need front and the back of the business card. Your files size is going to be x business card size is x 2 but when they have bleed they need to be a little bit bigger so that the edge as you can see here gets cut off. And the artwork needs to go all the way to the edge so that when they're cutting if it doesn't go all the way to the edge you might have a white line at the edge which looks really, really bad. So we want to make sure our files size is a little bit bigger than the actual printed size. Say OK and now we have two artboards. The front of the business card and the back. IF you go to Window > Artboards you can see them here, Artboard 1 and Artboard Now for the front of the business card we're going to use a photograph, that cupcake photo that I showed you in the earlier screen. Let's open up that image. I downloaded that image, the cupcake image, from morguefile.com, it's a great place for free stock photos. So let's go ahead and open that image that I got. It was a jpeg. And here it is it's a cute little image. If you go to Image > Size you can see it's inches wide by high but it's only
dpi. For printing, the resolution of your Photoshop images needs to be dpi, there's no ifs ands or buts about it you need to have a high resolution image for that. So, making sure none of these options here are checked, go ahead and highlight that and change it to 300. And you can see the width and the height changed, it went down to about
now instead of that huge image. It's going to make it smaller, but that's still much much bigger than we need for a business card. So say OK. Now go to Image > Mode and change it from RGB to CMYK, that's what it needs to be for printing, Say OK, and now we're going to Save it, Save As, and I'm going to call this cupcakes and save it as a TIF file, this is the best to use for printing. I mean if you saved it as a Photoshop or as a jpeg it's really not the end of the world but you really need to save it as a TIFF for printing. So now it's cupcakes.tif and save it. OK, so we're done with that one going back to Illustrator: Let's place our image that we want to use first off so you're on the first artboard which is Artboard #1 the front of the card. Let's move it over. Go to File > Place. Now search wherever it is on your desktop in a folder where you just saved that photo. It's cupcakes.tif - Place. And see, it's much much bigger than we need and it's a high resolution image so it's great. So let's, Holding down Shift, click on the corner and drag that down, until it's about the size of our business card. Now the next thing we need to talk about is BLEED. This document is sized a little bit bigger than a business card, remember? It's x 2.125. What you should do as you're working is click on your Rectangle Tool here, click anywhere on the artboard and make a x OK. Now using your Selection Tool, move that right into the center of your business card. Go down here to your Swatches palate, click on the white part here and click on this red slash that's going to get rid of the white part of that rectangle, and just leave you that stroke, the black outline. I want that there because I want you to see how big you have to make your image so that it bleeds outside of the business card because it's going to be cut there, and if we don't have our image extending all the way, when it cuts it could leave a white line at the edge, you don't want to do that. So you need to make sure that you see the area that you're working with, that you can't go outside this area with your type or your picture and that's really going to help you later. So put that in the center, now Copy that:Edit > Copy and Edit > Paste And the new one, just grab it and move it over to your second artboard so we have that there as well when we work on the back. So this is the bleed area outside of this black rectangle. Okay, so we have our image, we have our rectangles here. Now we need to design the rest of our business card. So let's just say the name of this company is One Minute Bakery. Just use your Type tool and type it. Get your selection tool, grab it, bring it down. And let's pick a nice font for that, so go to Window > Type > Character. If you use this window, when you click on the name of the font you'll get a preview of all the fonts in the actual style that the font is in. If you go up to here, the character palate on your toolbar, it does not show you a preview, so that's kind of boring. You don't get to see what it's going to look like. So if you click on your word, go over to your Character palate, and then you can play with it and see what they look like before it changes. It helps you decide what font to use. So I'm going to go ahead and use Pacifico. And now, Holding down Shift, hover over it til you get those arrows and pull it out til it gets to be the size you want. I think that looks good: One Minute Bakery. Now let's have a tagline for our business. How about, just using the type tool, click anywhere, here is fine, let's call it - just start typing, it doesn't matter - "Cupcakes on the Go." Now I assume you have all of your words written, I'm just sort of making this up as we go along. Now for the tagline we don't need it to be in the same fonts as the logotype, so lets select that and go over again here to our Character palate. If it's gone, make sure you go to Window > Type > Character. But it is here, and let's change that to a little bit easier to read font for smaller type. How about I like Arial, where is Arial, where are you where are you...Arial Narrow and Italic. That's going to be our tagline. We're going to put that under neath. I think it's a little bit big, let's make it smaller. Up here in the tool bar you can just go ahead and click the arrow down until it gets to be a good size for a tagline. Then just grab it and move it over there, it looks pretty good. Now, go over back to your Type Tool and click and drag, make a nice box here. Now you;'re just going to start typing all your information, you probably have this all ready, I'm just going to make this up. Joan Smith is the Owner, and the phone number is area code joan@onemintebakery.com and the website is www.oneminutedigital.com and the address is
Main St. if you hit Option and the number Yourtown USA 12345. So now we have all of the information that we need in our business card. So you still have this selected and now it's time for a little bit of styling. I think this is a little bit big for the textbox, we're going to go ahead and make that smaller so just hover over there, select that bottom address and lets make that maybe and that should fit very nicely, maybe even go below 7 points, that's too small. Now, I think it all fits but let's start at the top. So, One Minute Bakery. It looks okay in black but maybe we want it pink to match the color in this photo. So, over here on yout Toolbar go find your Eyedropper tool, it looks like the little eyedropper and anywhere you select in here it's going to sample that color. Here's the brown of the chocolate, the white of the coconut, and the pink of the tablecloth underneath it. I think that looks good for the logotype. So there we go we have One Minute Bakery, it almost looks like a logo. And when you center it, keep in mind you're not centering it to this edge because this edge is going to be cut off. You want to center it in this rectangle here to the edge of your photo. So give it a good amount of space between and it looks good. How about the tag line?Cupcakes on the Go. I think it maybe should be grey, so double-click on your fill palate with it highlighted. Pick a nice grey color and that looks good. Maybe make it a little bit bigger. With that selected, Hold down Shift and drag this out and that looks a little bit bigger it stands out a little bit. It's different from the main type and it looks like a tagline. How about, though, if we make that all caps. Let's go to Type >Change Case > Upper Case. I like it better in all caps but maybe not so big so Holding down Shift, move that again and there we go, there's our tagline. Now let's style the rest of it. It's a little too close to the top, let's move it down a little bit. Let's highlight Joan Smith and let's make it the same as the tagline. So using your eyedropper tool again with that highlighted just select that and it's going to go ahead and change it to the same font size and color as the one you just selected. I like that but maybe we should make it bold. So it's Arial Narrow Italic, we're going to make it Bold Italic. And maybe for Owner that's find underneath. Phone number let's give it a little bit of space. So go ahead and highlight that, go over to your Character palate, and this is your Leading setting here the 2 A's on top of each other, just give it a little bit of space, click the arrow up, up, up maybe three times is fine and also with the address. Let's go ahead and select that go over here to your Leading and up, up, up. Just separates thise a little bit, give it a little bit of breathing room. Now kind of make sure it's centered. Move it where you want it. I think that looks really nice. There we go for the front. Okay, so moving to the back just hold down your spacebar, get your little hand and move it over so you can work with it here. I think we're going to make the background pink for this one. A full bleed pink card. So using your rectangular tool, just click and drag, it doesn't matter how far out you go but you only need to go about that far. Using your eyedropper, select that pink area again and go to Object > Arrange > Send to Back. Okay, now there;'s our area, our pink area full bleed all the way to the edge. Now what are we going to put on the back? That's up to you, I'm going to go ahead and make something up. So, using your type tool click and drag and we're going to say: Best Cupcakes in Town, Open and Visit our website: www.oneminutedigital.com. Now we have all this formatted to flush Left. We want to make it Centered so with all this still selected just use your selection tool the Black Arrow, go up to the top here. You can see there is Flush Left, Centered and Flush Right. You want to make it Centered. And now if you hover over this bar and you drag it all the way to the edge it will make sure that it is in exactly the center. I Think we can make that a little bit bigger. Here in the Character Palate increase the Leading also give it more space between the lines and I think we'll go ahead and highlight this website address and over here on our color palate let's make that white. So that pops out. Now this is the same font that we used for our information over here, our Owner information. It's a good design tip is don't use too many fonts. I know it's tempting to go ahead and use every font you have in your character palate but it looks really nice and professional when you only use one or two fonts and so what we have is the entire thing is in this Arial Narrow except for this logotype which is in Pacifico. And I think that looks pretty good. Now we have the front and the back. So what you do to get this ready for print, is first thing: Delete these rectangles that you made. Just select them, delete, select, delete, because you don't need them to be there. Otherwise they will print so make sure you get rid of those. Now we're going to Select All which is Command A or File, I don't know I use key commands so much I don't remember, so Select All, command A and that selects everything. Now go to Type > Create Outlines. That makes turns them from fonts into graphics so now there are no fonts embedded any more it has changed them to a graphic. Now we want to go to Window >Links. and it shows you any links you have in your file. In this case we only have one image that is linked here that was not created in Illustrator. It was created in Photoshop and linked here. We need to embed that image because we're going to send it to a printer who doesn't have this on his desktop, he only has it in the file. So on your Links palate click on this little arrow up at the top and say "Embed Image" and that's going to make sure that image stays in there forever and never leaves. Okay, now we have it, let's go ahead and Save it - sorry, too many key commands - File > Save As and let's call this buscardPRINT. Save it as a pdf and save it where you want it. Now here in Illustrator in the Adobe pdf preset, you want to click there and select Press Quality. Uncheck Optimize for fast web preview but leave preserve Illustrator editing capabilities checked just in case your printer needs to in and move something you just never know when you're going to have to do something and if this is checked they will be able to do that. Under Compression make sure it is not downsampled. Check do not downsample. We wnat to make sure it stays at high resolution and say Save pdf. And now if we open it in Adobe Acrobat we open that bcardPrint, there it is our beautiful high resolution image and if you look here in your page thumbnails it is not one but two files, front and back. And this file is absolutely print-ready, CMYK, Outlined Fonts, Embedded Images, and it's ready to send to your printer. And that really is the best way to do it to do a full color business card. One thing I didn't mention is that you should always save a copy of your layered file before you do all the outlining and embedding. So make sure to save a copy as a layered file. So if I Command Z undo, undo, undo, we can do File > Save As > and call it buscardLAYERED, just to save a copy that you can go in and easily edit and keep that as an Adobe Illustrator fiel and save that (.ai) in your folder just is case your phone number changes later or something changes and we have to go in and edit it, we don't have to retype everything. So there you go, that is the best way to get your files print-ready and printed. I hope this was helpful, I know it was a long one for me but thanks so much for watching and until next time, bye-bye.
